What's the name of the font that you used for the "Arriiety.deviantart.com" part? I always wanted that font.

I wouldn't care if people used my art; I'd feel flattered.

I think you people care more for attention and credit than art.

if you were to live from drawing, you surely wouldn't be flattered and happy to see someone else using your art without your permission and mentioning your name ^^ especially if it was a commission, or - even worse - commercial work ;)

Would you also be ok with them not crediting you as the artist?
Reply
:iconcajjita:

Yes.
Because I know that whatever people say about the art is directed towards my creation. If people like the art then I know people like my stuff; I don't care if they like me, or even know me.

I just want them to know my art nawmean.

Hmm, so say if they don't credit you and they start selling your work as some do, it'd be ok right? Seeing as though they must think your art is good enough to make a profit from?
And who cares if they "know your art" to other people seeing it on someone elses profile without credit, they'd never know it was yours....

:iconcajjita:

Well I care about profit, but I don't care about them knowing it's mine. Besides, if I did want the recognition, they'll eventually get caught trying to claim my art as their own and then I'll get the free publicity they attracted.

Holy fuck people, chill the fuck out. He's just using a photo to show how you can edit to look like this. He said credit goes to the original artist. None of you should be freaking out this badly. This person did not claim as their own artwork, just showing an editing trick you can do on photoshop.
You all act like he just murdered someone, calm the fuck down.

yes, this person in fact did claim the picture as their own, because when you submit deviations you agree to dA rules which state that you have proper rights and ownership to everything that you publish here ;)

They clearly stated that the picture belonged to someone else, all they were doing was showing an editing tool on Photoshop, which was also clearly stated.
& Like I said, it's not like he murdered someone. Nor did he state that he drew the picture.
I'd love to see how you react to someone who post's fanart on here as well. Because if you're going to be so anal then my Adventure Time fanart would be breaking the rules of DA, along with anyone who draws and posts anything they didn't 100% create, which includes the characters. It's the same thing, if you state that the credit goes to someone else too then you're fine.
So thank you! ;)

Ehh you're totally missing the point here. The rules forbid posting pictures that were created by other people, even if you credit them. By submitting anything you must check the box of the rules & conditions where you admit that you created the picture yourself or you're its legal owner. Not its content (that's why fanart is allowed), but the picture/file itself. Now do you get it? >.>

Rules are rules and crediting or writing anything in the description doesn't matter. This kind of deviations are sooner or later removed from dA. I wouldn't make a big deal if you at least tried to accept the fact that if you agreed to something, there are no arguments afterwards.

It clearly states in the rules that if "The reproduction properly credits the original." than it's tolerated. The only time a piece like this is Not tolerated is if " The reproduction exactly duplicates an original work and the owner of the original work files a complaint." Now, since you're NOT the original artist, and the original artist has NOT complained then there is no issue here. Now I agree, if the original artist doesn't want this up here then it should be taken down. But if the original artist has no issues with it then everyone else, including you & I need's to back off.

So yes, Crediting or writing anything in the description DOES matter.
The only time this stuff is a problem ACCORDING TO DA RULES; is when the original artist has a problem with it, or it is not CREDITED.
So thank you.
& Fanart is still an issue that in the DA rules they have stated shouldn't be allowed without specific credits and if the original artists (like an example, if Masashi Kishimoto the owner of Naruto didn't want fanart on DA then ever single post with traces of Naruto even in it would be banned.) doesn't want it allowed.

Now do You get it?

My dear, "reproduction" does mean copying or recreating, not submitting something already existing! I have no idea where you took that from, because I was talking about terms of service [link] where it's clearly written: Individuals who have posted works to deviantART are either the copyright owners of the component parts of that work or are posting the work under license from a copyright owner or his or her agent or otherwise as permitted by law.
Also, read this:
FAQ #306: Does "Crediting" let me use whatever I want?
FAQ #8: What are violations of the deviantART copyright policy?
FAQ #157: Can I use things created by other people in my submissions?

And if you still 'disagree' to obvious facts, go here [link] .

And fanart has totally nothing to do with it.

1.) Me saying fuck a lot has nothing to do with the fact that my point still stands.
2.) I have no idea who PewdiePie is, so if that's supposed to be an insult you failed miserably.
3.) Your only "comeback" is that I say fuck, if that's your only way of "attacking" me or trying to "argue" with me, then you should have just kept it to yourself because you just made yourself look like a jackass is all.
Thank you & have a nice day!

Taking a picture from a random online gallery without even bothering to look up/list the artist, let alone asking them if its okay to use their art in this manner does not count as crediting or citing proper sources.

please credit the artist who created this work. i think the filters ruin the painted artworks, they're good for photos but not for paintings, especially the ones who's colors were chosen so careful like the original image for example

I love both. And I think this effect is wonderful and it would look amazing on some bright and sunny photos where the camera did not do the sunniness or warmness justice. Especially in hazy, gray, and ugly photos that unfortunately cheap cameras produce. This effect should be amazing to restore that, and also work good for website and graphical art.

    Thank you plenty!

As a long time graphic artist, and someone who retouches photos as a hobby, I cannot even start to fathom why you'd do this to a photo, I spent 4 years in collage learning to "clean" up photos not over saturate them to the point of well this. It's one thing to enhance a color by removing the light noise in it adding more pop, but come on this is like you cranked up the contrast ratio...

Yiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiikes. Please no. I have yet to understand the appeal in images with an over-intense saturation of colors with over-sharpened filters applied.
